Gunnar Hagen Memorial Classic

The 31st annual Gunnar Hagen Memorial is the first of three Kongsberger Ski Club cross country ski races this winter.  The Gunnar Hagen is the club’s only classic technique, interval start race.

Distances
30K and 10K classic technique races
Open to all skiers J2 and older (14 years and older)
(Note: on Saturday, a Children’s Race is run for younger skiers)

Start Times
  30K – first start 10:00 AM
  10K – first start immediately after last 30K racer
Interval starts, 2 skiers every 30 seconds, in bib number order

Location
North of interchange at Cabin Creek Sno-Park, exit #63 on I-90, 10 miles east of Snoqualmie Pass. Sno-Park permit and Washington State Grooming Sticker required to park. 1-day permits for purchase online. Be sure to get your Sno-park permit & grooming sticker before you come up to the race. ( We're not selling one day permits in the parking lot this year). 
Racers may use the Kongsberger club cabin and waxing shed on race days.

Race Course
Course is on Kongsberger trail system on US Forest Service land, north side of I-90.  10K is one lap, 30K is three laps.  Map

Register online by Thursday, January 21 to avoid late fees. (Pre-registration strongly recommended due to seeding and pre-assigned bib numbers for interval starts.)

Registration permitted on race day from 8:00 to 9:30 AM in basement of Kongsberger cabin.  Late fees apply. Credit cards not accepted on race day.

Juniors’ Parent Waiver Required
Skiers under 18 years old must print out the waiver, have it signed by a parent or guardian, and hand it in to registration on race day. No exceptions.

Bib Pick-up & Return
Bib pick-up for all racers from 8:00 to 9:30 AM on race day in basement of Kongsberger cabin.  Return bibs at finish.

Feed & Post-Race Food
Food for racers provided at start/lap/finish area.  Water and Nuun (electrolyte replacement- no sugar) on course at road crossing.  Racers should bring own liquid feed if needed.  Post-race hot food and beverages in cabin.

Awards, Medals & Prizes
Top 3 overall awards for each race given at post-race ceremony.  Age group winners announced and pick up medals downstairs after ceremony.  Draw prizes at ceremony, must be present to win.

Results
Results posted in the cabin after race finishes and online within 24 hours.

Non-Racing Skiers & Spectators
Non-racing skiers are invited to watch races at the start/lap/finish area or along the trails.  However, they should consider skiing at another location on race mornings, eg Lake Easton or Hyak, as Cabin Creek parking and trail use will be intensive from 10:00 to noon.  As always, dogs are not permitted on groomed trails at Cabin Creek.
